This is my first blog ever so I hope you find it interesting:
I don’t really have a hobby in Osaka but when I lived in my home town in London about 7 years ago, I used to organize a Japanese/English international social event.
I organized this event every week for about 4 years.
The reason why I organized this Japanese/English event in London, was that I used to go to similar events when I lived in Tokyo about 10 years ago. The Tokyo events were usually fun so I wanted to make a similar event in London.
I don’t know if there are many of these events in Osaka but there are now many international social events in Tokyo. Some events are good but some are not so good, which is why it’s best to try to go to a few to find the good ones. The events can range from outdoor events, sporting events, drinking/chatting events, language exchange events and many more.
When I started my own Japanese/English social event in London, it started small but after about a year, I would get about 50 English and Japanese speakers at my events every week. I also had about 2,000 members in my group on Facebook.
At my event, I mainly organized events to meet new people and to meet regular members. Apart from the main chatting event, I also occasionally organized events like karaoke, bowling, ice skating, picnics and language exchange events.
Other events also included seasonal events like Christmas and Halloween parties which were always fun!
There was a bigger Japanese/English social event organized by another person once a month in London, which I used to go to. This social event had between 150 to 200 English and Japanese speakers at this monthly event. This event was also a lot of fun!
These kinds of international social events are a good way of meeting people you don’t know and meeting people you may have met at previous events. I made many good Japanese and international friends at my event and at the other event.
Maybe some day in Osaka, I’ll start a similar social event, like the one I did in London.
